Timecop (1994)

Widely regarded as Jean-Claude Van Damme’s most successful solo film, the Sam Raimi-produced Dark Horse comic adaptation is a Split Hook Kick of ultra-90’s sci-fi.

The movie’s always been a personal fave, but let’s talk hair.

It was especially awe-inspiring to see Jean Claude’s fresh-from-the-salon Hard Target mullet still ready for action. I never understood that coiffure’s slight revival in the early 90s – comic book characters were especially lousy with it. Even Superman had a mullet.

At the time, my own hair was all Party in the front and Business in the back. My friends called it the ‘Phoenix’. As in River.

Anyway, Time cop. Classic. And it looks Damme fine on the shelf next to Johnny Mnemonic, Virtuosity or even Demolition Man. -Pop

Timecop arrived on home video today in 1995, after a September 16th, 1994 theatrical release.
