“Do me a favor? Don’t scream. Just hear what I’ve gotta say… and then scream.”
I can’t feign objectivity here. Not that I ever do. I was already a huge fan of the show, and especially the original EC comics (no seriously I could write an enpsychopedia on the Max Gaines legacy) – so I was pretty much first in line for its original Friday the 13th, 1995 theatrical premiere.
And then they went and made it a siege movie. An awesome siege movie at that. My go-to sub-genre.
So I pretty much sauntered out of the theatre hailing DK as my new favourite horror flick, a title it held for a long time. They couldn’t have picked a better blend of scares and comedy to launch the Cryptkepper’s cinematic undertakings – plus, the cast is phenomenal, and Zane chews every bit of scenery that isn’t nailed down. And then some.
Not to mention it also has one of the best soundtracks of the mid 90s. -Pop
Tales From The Crypt: Demon Knight arrived on Home Video this week in 1995, after a January 13th theatrical siege.
