Mmm, Campbell soup. A western Vampire film starring Bruce Campbell and David Carradine as ‘Mardulak’? How’s that grab ya? How about if I throw in Maxwell Caulfield in peak smarm mode, Deborah Foreman, Dana Ashbrook, and M. Emmet Walsh? Maybe Jim Metzler and Morgan Brittany for good measure? A killer soundtrack? How about if the whole thing is directed by the late great Anthony Hickox?
Oh, I had you at Bruce?
That’s my poison right there. Sure it can be a sweltering hot mess at times, but Sundown is a smooth B cocktail of ultra-80’s with a classic cast that just doesn’t know when to quit. I’m the first to admit that vampire films aren’t always my cuppa type-o, but I’ll loudly-and-proudly slurp this up any day of the week.
