Yule Love it!
These are my kind of yuletide shenanigans. Even though the original reviews were a mixed bag and the audience reception was moderate, Richard Donner’s manic yuppie spin on the ol’ Dickens Carol has become a bona fide Christmas classic – and a perennially quotable holiday staple.
Scrooged never fails to put a little love in my heart.
Speaking of which, great soundtrack too – this is hands-down one of my favourite Danny Elfman Scores, and Annie Lennox and Al Green’s “Put a little love in your heart” single has been a mixtape essential ever since.
I recently posted about Santa Claus: The Movie – which makes a great double feature if you want to see a Salkinds and Richard Donner Christmas movie grudge match. Knowing their history.
These two films definitely form an accidental dialogue with one another. -Pop
Scrooged arrived on home video today in 1989, after a November 23rd 1988 theatrical release. Just in time for the holidays. Again. Feed me…
