Orgazmo came to Home Video this week in 1999, after a short but sweet October 23rd, 1998 US theatrical release.
Like a bold shining pink spire in the night, there arose a hero that would give the nippley black rubber decade the happy ending it deserved.
90’s superhero films were a schizophrenic bunch, from the highs of Batman Returns, The Crow and Mystery Men to the lows of Captain America, Steel or Barb Wire. Oh, don’t get me wrong, I still love them because I’m obsessed with anything comic book-related, but I understand that it was an awkward time that most pre-Blade fanboys blank-man out.
Orgazmo is probably one of the best spandex-clad outings of the 90s and I’ll tickle anyone who would dare challenge me on this. It satirises more than just the cape and cowl crowd, it screws with the Adult Film biz and lampoons the LDS to a level that feels like a dry run for Trey Parker’s The Book Of Mormon – which I saw in NYC 8 years ago and it was the best night of my life. But I digress. If you haven’t seen this one, you’re likely to add another guilty pleasure to your already long list.
Like a French flipper trick, it’s silly sexy fun that looks good in your sock drawer next to Flesh Gordon Meets the Cosmic Cheerleaders.
