Metamorphosis (1990)

Box art hallo’ fame: Metamorphosis (1990). Produced by Filmirage and directed by George Eastman (legendary writer and star of many a Joe D’Amato sleasefest, and I say this lovingly), this talkie B Jekyll and Hyde flick might have had some of the most memorable novelty box art on the shelf (with embossing and lights no less), but it never reached the Cronenbergian heights it set for itself.

Wholly watchable and fun in its own right, the bouncy synthpop soundtrack, wooden acting, hazy technobabble, and a notoriously absurd final rubber monster climax pushes it well past the ‘so bad it’s good’ mark. -Pop
