Director Ivan Reitman’s second comedy pairing with Arnold Schwarzenegger was another pitch-meeting triumph that aced it at the box office. After the success of Twins, it became a no-brainer for big muscly men-of-action to flex their comedic chops in more family-centered fish-out-of-water fare like Stop or My Mom will Shoot, Twin Sitters, Suburban Commando or Mr. Nanny.
Sure, this casual genre-hopping would later successfully define Dwayne Johnson’s career… but this was exciting stuff at the time.
Plus it’s always nice to revisit the Goon docks. -Pop
