Chopper Chicks in Zombietown (1989)

…is exactly the kind of wacky time-waster you always hoped to find on Video Store shelves.

It has the notoriety of co-starring then-unknowns Billy Bob Thornton and Hal Sparks, not to mention Jamie Rose, Martha Quinn, Lycia Naff, the late Ed Gale (Howard the Duck himself), and the legendary Don Calfa. It’s a hard rockin’, hard drinkin’, hard ridin’ good time that might just surprise you with a few authentic heartfelt moments if you’re not careful.

It was released by Troma, but don’t let that fool you into thinking you’re crashing a Lloyd Kaufman joint – this one’s got a heart of chrome and it’s hell bent for leather. Chopper Chicks is a subversive and self-aware indie horror that fills its squibs with every last drop of budget. And attitude.

I’ve always loved this undead biker chick flick, it’s a hot trip to B-movie heaven that deserves some space on the shelf next to Sundown: The Vampire in Retreat, or any of the first 3 Return of the Living Dead entries. -Pop
