A View To A Kill (1985)

The Bond That Set My 00 Standard

You never forget your first Bond.

This was the first NEW James Bond after I discovered the franchise through a late night Bondathon around the time of Octopussy’s release. With a scorching air-drum-inducing theme song by then-hottest band in my record collection, Duran Duran, the movie felt like an event – Taylor-made for my adolescent sensibilities. This was a big deal.

Little did I know this was the last outing for the man I came to know as the definitive Bonding Agent, but that was mostly thanks to Cannonball Run. I wanted Moore, I got more than I bargained for. This was the big bada-bond spectacle I wanted, and that was my big screen intro to double-o.

It’s not the most acclaimed film in the series, but it’s still the one I weigh every new entry against.
